‘Naughty nutritionist’s’ 1-day city conference debunks food myths

Nutritionist Dr. Kaayla Daniel, who warns of the dangers of soy in a book, “The Whole Soy Story: the Dark Side of America’s Favorite Health Food,” gives a TV interview. She is our speaker at a one-day health conference in Chattanooga hosted by the Weston A. Price Foundation.

The Chattanooga chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation, with sponsorship of Nooganomics.com, will be hosting a one-day health conference “Debunking Nutritional Myths,” May 18 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

The conference will be held at 1505 Cloverdale Drive, Hixson.  Some of the most popular health myths will be debunked by guest speaker, Dr. Kaayla Daniel, also known as the Naughty Nutritionist because of her ability to outrageously debunk nutritional myths. Dr. Daniel has been a guest on The Dr. Oz Show, NPR’s People’s Pharmacy, ABC’s View from the Bay, and Discovery Channel’s Medical Hotseat. Online, she has been featured as an “inner circle” expert on www.mercola.com, a dietary and natural health website.

“It’s no wonder that Americans are confused about what ‘healthy food’ means,” says Michele Reneau of Chattanooga, organizer of the conference. “The definition of unhealthy food changes from decade to decade. Butter was demonized in the 1970s. Margarine became the hero with fewer calories and less fat. But then it was discovered that trans fats are bad for you so margarine is out. Then olive oil is in. Now coconut oil is the rave. But wait — wasn’t coconut oil previously demonized by the margarine folks, too?”

Michele Reneau

“Soy is a health food. The Asians eat it,” she says. “So should you. But how come there is contradictory research on soy. Which is true?

“Cholesterol is killing you, or is it? Could low-fat, low-cholesterol foods be contributing to the epidemic of depression and other mental health disorders?

I also have wondered why America is experiencing an epidemic of infertility — now one in seven couples. Is the cause materialism, loss of Christian faith, loss of hope in themselves and the future? It is predicted that soon infertility will be one couple in three. Does a dietary connection exist?

Americans dominate the world in health issues, from obesity to diabetes to infertility to depression. But why when we have access to the best health care and information. If you are confused, don’t worry. You don’t have to be. Come find out the answers to the questions above and more.
