DA disputes jury power, insists jurors must enforce law

We stop ’em by being on juries and being informed about our ancient rights to defy and defeat bad law when pressed against a criminal defendant. But Melydia Clewell, spokeswoman for DA Neal Pinkston in Hamilton County, Tenn., rips idea of jury members’ ruling on laws and nullifying them by “not guilty” findings or hung juries. In a phone conversation, she likens David Tulis’ analysis to “jury tampering.”
